The Comeback Had Everything Except 2 Extra Points

Down 21-0 in Detroit, this game looked over.
Then somebody apparently forgot to tell them.
New Orleans came roaring back behind Tyler Shough, who threw for 410 yards and three touchdowns, and Chris Olave, who piled up a career-high 182 receiving yards. The Saints erased the deficit, tied it late, and had a chance to win with a 62-yard field goal attempt.
The kick was up and had enough distance, but it drifted right, sending the game into overtime.
Then things got interesting.
Detroit scored a touchdown in OT to go up 31-24. The Saints answered right back, with Shough hitting Noah Fant for a touchdown to make it 31-30.
Kick the extra point and keep playing?
Nah.
Kellen Moore put all the chips on the table and went for two.
One play. Two yards. Win or lose.
Shough dropped back, looked for Bub Means… and the pass fell incomplete.
Game over. Lions 31, Saints 30.
Was going for two the right call? Saints fans will argue about that one all week. But after watching New Orleans climb out of a 21-point hole on the road, we’re not going to complain about a coach having the guts to try to finish the job.
The Saints leave Detroit 0-1.
But if this is the kind of fight we're getting this season, things could get interesting fast.
🧂 THE SHAKE DOWN:
Coming back from 21 down takes guts. Going for two in overtime takes a couple of huge footballs.
It didn't work.
But damn, it was fun.
