WELL… THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY
For about three quarters Sunday, it looked like the Saints might actually have something cooking.

Tyler Shough threw four touchdown passes. Chris Olave went over 100 yards. The Saints took a 27–16 lead.
And then somebody apparently hit the self-destruct button.
New Orleans turned the ball over four times, including three fourth-quarter turnovers, and watched an 11-point lead disappear as the Raiders came storming back for a 35–27 win in the Saints' home opener.
The frustrating part?
There was actually a lot to like.
Shough finished with 255 yards and four touchdowns, Olave caught nine passes for 107 yards, and Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant combined for four touchdown catches. The Saints also outgained Las Vegas and held the ball longer.
Then came the fourth quarter.
Fumble. Interception. Fumble. Ballgame.
The Saints fall to 1–2, and they'll get a little extra time to think about this one before the Falcons come to the Dome Monday, Oct. 5.
The good news: this team looks capable of scoring.
The bad news: apparently they are also capable of giving all of it back.

The Colonels were buried by a 28-point Lamar first quarter and never recovered. Nicholls falls to 2–3.
🧂 THE SHAKE DOWN:
Not exactly a banner weekend so far. The Saints coughed one up late, and the Colonels got run over early, and LSU drops in ranking after a big win.
